As soon as somebody says, "I am God," kick
him on his face.
"Yes, you are God, I am God. I am the kicking God." (laughter)
That should be the answer. "I am the shoe-beater God.
Now you protect yourself if you are God."
So how one can become
God? Rascal. How one can become God. That is not possible. God knows
everything. If one knows everything, then you can
accept him as God.
Otherwise, don't accept. As soon as somebody says, "I am God," kick
him on his face. "Yes, you are God, I am God. I am the kicking God." (laughter)
That should be the answer. "I am the shoe-beater God. Now you protect
yourself if you are God." Don't accept this false God.
… Krsnas tu bhagavan svayam. That is the verdict all... Just like Vyasadeva,
the giver of the Vedic knowledge, he says, bhagavan uvaca: God says. So we
have to
follow that.
[Bhagavad-gita Lecture, 13.3, Paris, August 11, 1973]
Srila Prabhupad is the servitor of Godhead, he
never falsely claimed that he was God. If one falsely claims they are
God, they must be tested. If, in
fact, they are not God, then the rascal cheater must be exposed. Just like
it is punishable to impersonate a military or police officer or the president
of the USA, it is punishable by God’s laws to impersonate Him. This is
why His pure devotees will test others who claim to be God. If one turns out
to actually be God, God will not be harmed by our feeble tests, and rather,
ultimately He will be pleased by our service to expose the rascal cheaters,
He will not mind even if we test Him. |
