Defending Srila Prabhupad's Position :

This video is my rebuttal to an Internet lecture given by Hrdayananda Gosvami. Hrdayananda is found giving psuedo intellignet arguments as to how and why one may selectively reject those areas of Srila Prabhupad's teachings that we do not agree with. He proclaims those teachings as Material.

The instructions he rejects are those instructions dealing with social religious principles which he disagrees with. Some of what SP has said may seem controversial, or out of touch by modern Western thinking. However, one who has real faith in Srila Prabhupad, and understands the principles of Vedic Dharma will not reject those principles, but will understand their religous and social values and uphold and defend what Srila Prabhupad, previous saintly souls, and the Vedic scripture clearly teach.

8-10 years ago I, along with a number of godbrothers, had approached the GBC and informed them of email postings by " 'iskcon devotees', who made open remarks belittling SP's character and his qualifications to speak on relgious/social principles. After infomring the GBC we expected them to take action. They did not. Thereafter we then begged, and then demaned that the GBC take action. They refused.

In one GBC's own words, given in an interview in 2005, he said that the GBC considered it, "Politically SAFE to ignore them, and we did". Srila Prabhupad's character and teachings were both under attack. and yet this gbc considered it "Politically Safe" to ignore our pleas to stand up and defend Srila Prabhupad. Such Politics will not save them from their failure to take it upon themselves to stand up for Srila Prabhupad.

What was the attack? It was from professed "feminists" who were offensively critical of Srila Prabhupad's statements where he taught the VEDIC idea that women were less intelligent then men. In the modern West, this idea is simply Politically Uncorrect. Whether it is true or not, that is another thing, but it has become totally unacceptable to even suggest such a thing in modern society. Still, the Vedic scriptures say such things, and our Srila Prabhupad, at times, also taught this. Even face to face with a female, rather, feminists TV reporter Srila Prabhupad boldly made just statements. For which headlines in the Chicago Tribune read, "Swamiji Hates Women". Srila Prabhupad has no hatred in him for women. And those women who served him personally and had the great fortune of his personal association will vow that SP was only kind and loving toward them.

Yet, he made such statements. Hrdayananda has taken the view that such statements were material, faulty and since he argues they are not spiritual instructions, such statements by Srila Prabhupad do not need to be accepted or followed.

Those teachings given by Srila Prabhupad are actually religious principles that must be properly understood and followed.

I have given argument in favor of proper understanding of what Srila Prabhupad is saying, and have taken it on myself to defend his teachings and counter this fallen and faithless ideas that Hrdayananda has put forth.
